چکیده

This paper presents an extension of propositional dynamic database logic in which arbitrary database transactions can be speciied declaratively. Typically, declaratively speciied transactions are under-speciied. Speciications are usually supplemented with a frame assumption about what does not change as the result of a transaction, and a qualiication assumption stating that transactions occur, provided they respect certain conditions called 'guards' and do not contravene any constraints. In addition these (static) constraints may be, or may not be interpreted to force ramiications of transactions. In the former case, both frame and qualiication assumption should also apply to ramiications. We solve these problems by deening preferences over Kripke structures and showing how these can be used to deene an intended semantics that, for each declarative transaction speciication, selects a unique meaning for each transaction. In particular, the intended semantics formalizes a frame assumption and selects qualiications and ramiications for each speciication. The notion of preferential entailment based on the semantics provides a natural way of reasoning about declaratively speciied transactions.

Minimal Semantics for action Speci cations in PDL

In this paper we investigate minimal semantics for Propositional Dynamic Logic formulas. The goal is to be able to write action speciications in a declarative pre/post-condition style. The declarative speciication of actions comes with some well known problems: the frame problem, the qualiication problem and the ram-iication problem. We incorporate the assumptions that are inherent to both the ...

We present a framework for the automatic con guration of large systems from a library of reusable software components. Core of the framework is a modal logic that uniformly and elegantly captures type descriptions, module speci cations and relative time. Whereas the rst two `dimensions' are treated similarly by means of a simple logic over a taxonomy of types and modules respectively, time is e...

Synthesis of Extended Transaction Models using ACTA 1

ACTA is a comprehensive transaction framework that facilitates the formal description of properties of extended transaction models. Speci cally, using ACTA, one can specify and reason about (1) the e ects of transactions on objects and (2) the interactions between transactions. This paper presents ACTA as a tool for the synthesis of extended transaction models, one which supports the developmen...
